Prof. Andrew Carr - HIV Faculty

Prof. Andrew Carr

Professor Carr is a member of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and the Royal College of Pathologists, Australasia. He is the Director of the HIV, Immunology and Infectious Diseases Unit, and Head of the Clinical Research Program at St Vincent’s Hospital Sydney. He is a Professor of medicine at UNSW.

Dr. Fiona Bisshop - HIV Faculty

Dr. Fiona Bisshop

Fiona Bisshop is a University of Queensland Medical School graduate and a Fellow of the RACGP. She also has an honours degree in microbiology. She is an S100 GP who has worked in HIV care since 2001. She has a long history of providing gender affirming healthcare to a large cohort of trans and gender diverse people, and has been involved in several workshops and educational seminars on trans health.
Fiona is on the ASHM Treatment Guidelines Committee and is current President of AusPATH, the Australian Professional Association for Trans Health.

Prof. Jenny Hoy - HIV Faculty

Prof. Jenny Hoy

Professor Hoy is a productive member of the IAS-USA Antiretroviral Guidelines Panel since 2012 and has over 30 years of experience in HIV clinical research and patient care. Her research interests include the comorbidities associated with ageing and HIV, especially bone and cardiovascular disease, and finding better ways to prevent and manage them.

Prof. Caroline Sabin - HIV Faculty

Prof. Caroline Sabin

Professor Sabin has been an active member of the BHIVA Audit and Standards Subcommittee since 2001, and of several BHIVA guideline groups. She is the principal investigator of the UK CHIC Study and provides regular training courses on the analysis/ interpretation of cohorts, with the aim of raising the profile of clinical HIV research in the UK. She was re-elected as a BHIVA trustee to serve on the Executive Committee from 2016–2019. Professor Sabin is Chair of the BHIVA Education and Scientific Subcommittee. She has been elected as BHIVA Vice Chair in 2019 for a three-year term to 2022.

Prof. Don Smith - HIV Faculty

Prof. Don Smith

Professor Smith is a Senior Staff Specialist at the Albion Centre, the largest ambulatory HIV clinic in Australia. The centre treats over 3,000 HIV-infected patients and provides sexual health screening to a predominantly MSM inner city population. He graduated in medicine from Otago University in 1984 and obtained his MD in 1993. He has been clinically managing HIV-infected patients for over 30 years, has been a principal investigator or co-investigator in over 30 clinical trials and an author on more than 100 papers relating to HIV management. Professor Smith holds a conjoint appointment with the School of Public Health and Community Medicine, at UNSW.
